Excerpts from The Call of the Trance

  Among the perspectives about contemporary life in The Call of the Trance (2014) is author Catherine Clément's declaration "The possessed today are singers . . ."  Nowadays 'possession' is associated with the word 'demon' or 'demonic' connoting evil as a superstitious derivative of the Latin/Greek 'daemon'/'daimon.'  A point of reflection for Clément was a reviewer's comparisons of a rap singer's movements to those of animals. 2014 TV image The Call of the Trance  was translated to English by Chris Turner.  Catherine Clément's writings include essays on anthropology and psychoanalysis.  Contemplating some of the occurrences mentioned in the book, I recalled circumstances documented in case studies of visions, trance mediumship and channeling (topics of many previous blog articles) . 2015: Ray Brown and 'Paul' vs. 'Assumed Imperative'

  This painting of 'Paul' by Diana Webbe is featured in a June 11 article published in newspapers of northern and central England.  The depiction shows the guide that is a spiritual healer continuing to work through Ray Brown.  There is a sentence about the painting in a short book of Paul's spiritual teachings ( The Eternal Truth 2009) edited by Susan Hewitt: "The portrait of Paul was painted by a psychic artist and Paul says it is a true likeness, apart from the beard, which is too tidy."
