'Gef': A Modern Sphinx as an Esoteric Lesson about Oneness
A revealing way to consider the case of 'Gef the Talking Mongoose' is through comparison to other documented accounts of so-called 'talking poltergeists.' I published a 15,000 word article in 2004 that shows correlations between the Gef case and other poltergeist cases. In addition to the case study presented in The Haunting of Cashen's Gap: A Modern Miracle Investigated (1936) by Harry Price and R. S. Lambert, two other cases considered in the article are chronicled in the books An Authenticated History of the Famous Bell Witch and Other Stories of the World's Greatest Phenomenon (1894) by M. V. Ingram and A Faithful Record of the Miraculous Case of Mary Jobson (second edition 1841) by W. Reid Clanny, M.D. Other sources for the article include books by Charles Bailey Bell, M.D., Nandor Fodor, and Harry Price. In addition to a mongoose, Gef is reported to have identified himself as "a ghost in the form of a weasel," "a large stray cat," "the fifth dimension," "the eighth wonder of the world," and "the Holy Ghost." On one occasion, Gef also found a way of intimating that he was also his host family's dog. And what about the synchronicity of the "mutational mutterings" of the parrot encountered by Harry Price during his investigatory visit to the Isle of Man? Dedicated paranormal researchers will understand how documented accounts of transcendental communication provide occult lessons about spiritual 'Oneness.'
